Serenity Stables

Join us on 10 May for a day of calm and tranquility at Serenity Stables in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. We will be participating in horse-assisted activities other than riding. Bring a bag lunch, snacks, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. Wear clothes that can get muddy and close-toed shoes or boots. For female veterans only, no children on this outing. There is no charge for this trip.

10-17 May Allagash River Trip

In partnership with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing and the Sierra Cub Military Outdoors, we will lead a canoe and fly-fishing outing on the Allagash River in Northern Maine on 10-17 May 2019. This trip is rated as moderate in difficulty, you should have some experience with multi-day canoe trips and canoe handling. Discuss your skill level with the outing leader who recruited you if you are uncertain about becoming a member of this trip. During this outing we will explore the Allagash River within weeks of the ice breaking up and the area becoming accessible. This is also a great time in the season for cold water fly fishing (trout!). This is a long trip with six nights on the river. All meals will be provided beginning with dinner on Friday, 10 May.

This fly fishing outing is in partnership with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. During this outing we will explore the Beaverkill and Neversink Rivers, two of the best trout streams in the Northeast. Car camping at Beaverkill Campground, you will have many options for how to spend the day. From fly fishing to hiking to laying in a hammock, there will be a very flexible schedule and no mandatory events.All meals will be provided from dinner Monday, 20 May through breakfast on Thursday, 23 May. Feel free to bring your own snacks.

Green Spaces

Find your very own urban oasis as we explore iconic public green spaces in Manhattan. From amazing atriums to soothing waterfalls, enjoy a day of indoor and outdoor nature with other female veterans. This trip is for female veterans and their children, and will be led by outdoor leader and veteran Aaron Leonard and outings leader Leslie Hoellger. We will explore the Delaware Water Gap on the Philadelphia/New Jersey border. This outing requires canoeing 27 miles on the Delaware River from Dingman’s Ferry, PA to the southern tip of the Water Gap. Fishing, swimming, and two nights sleeping under the stars on a Wild and Scenic River! An epic trip, only 8 seats available, including children. Children must be able to swim and help paddle the canoe.

10-14 October Escarpment Trail

A bucket list trail for anyone hiking in the Northeast. Covering over 25 miles of difficult terrain will challenge the members of this expedition as we set-out to explore the scenic Hudson Valley along the Escarpment Trail. Basecamp will be established at the North South Lake campground both coming in and going out. The purpose of this outing is to provide a physically challenging and more remote outing to our NYC groups.
