I was amazed at the level of quality and compassion at this office. Prior to moving to NJ, I lived in NYC was forced to use the NY Regional Office in Houston Street. My experiences there made me hate the VA Regional Office until I entered the Newark Office. First off, what took two years for the VA in NYC took one day in NJ. I was blown away by this and was overwhelmed by joy because of this. In NYC they told me to use the NYS College to go to school and the VA was "running out of money" and couldn't pay for anymore classes. My NYC counselor literally pointed to a bulletin board that had a brochure about the NYS College fund. Second, they treated me like a human being which made me feel welcome. In NYC you are forced to wait in a small office until you see someone. The staff in NYC don't care and have very rude attitudes. In Newark, there were veterans working everywhere and actually had a smile. The Newark office wants to do everything in their power to help you and not give you the runaround. I highly recommend the Newark Office for any of your needs and wish all VA Offices were like them. If I could give them more stars then 5 I would!!
